Summary

The new Global Sweeper, costing $383,072, will be paid from the Stormwater Utility and replaces a 2008 model. Street Commissioner Kip Headdy explained that parts for the current sweeper are costly, and securing a new unit now would ensure a 2026 delivery. Council approved the intent to purchase the Global Sweeper from Brown Equipment.

Council rezoned a 10.07-acre parcel at 8650 W. Flatwoods Road from Agricultural (AG) to Light Industrial (I-1). Planning Director Denise Line explained that petitioner Brett Oeding plans to relocate his modular home business to the site. The property will feature a warehouse, an office, and approximately ten model homes on display, with no construction or chemicals on site. Town Attorney Darla Brown confirmed that zoning map amendments do not require two readings from the council.

Council approved an increase in septic dumping rates. Town Manager Michael Farmer noted that the item was brought for a vote after a request at the previous meeting for public input.

The Ellettsville Youth Sports League received a mass gathering permit for its Season Kick-off Jamboree on April 11, 2026. Town Manager Michael Farmer and Town Attorney Darla Brown clarified that the Council must give final approval for such permits, and the fee was waived for the non-profit organization.

Council voted to table the Community Crossings Grant bid due to technical difficulties. Street Commissioner Kip Headdy requested the delay until the next meeting.

Fire Chief Kevin Patton reported he is awaiting a quote for a fire truck that failed its regular inspection. Town Manager Michael Farmer announced a reorganization meeting and a Fire Territory meeting, noting that public notice for the latter would be re-issued due to an error.
