Summary
Milestone Contractors will repave South Deer Run, East Benjamin Street, South Lantern Lane, East Appomattox Court, and North Daisy Drive.
The council approved a $139,775.03 bid from Milestone Contractors to repave five streets. DPW Director Kip Headdy discussed the bids, noting Milestone Contractors submitted the lowest bid and met all requirements. The council approved the bid unanimously.
The council approved an ordinance to rezone two parcels totaling 2.03 acres at 5010 N. Lakeview Drive. The zoning changed from Commercial 2 (C-2) to Residential 2 (R-2) Medium Density Residential. Planning Director Denise Line explained petitioner Kevin Farris requested the change to allow for a minor subdivision of four single-family dwellings. The R-2 zoning will better suit the property's physical characteristics, including significant grade changes and a sewer main. The Plan Commission had previously made a favorable recommendation for the zone change, and the council approved the motion unanimously.
The council approved a $29,425 proposal from Taylor, Siefker & Williams Design Group to update the town's Comprehensive Plan, Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), and Official Zoning Map. Town Attorney Darla Brown explained the update is in anticipation of the reorganization, the proposed merger of the town and Richland Township. The goal is to have the updated documents ready for the new Town Council to consider by early next year. Council member Dan Swafford questioned spending money before the reorganization passed, but Darla Brown and Planning Director Denise Line stated the process is lengthy. The council approved the proposal, pending approval from both the Ellettsville Town Council and the Richland Township Board for reorganization, with the motion passing unanimously.
Council President Scott Oldham announced the passing of Anise Osborn, the town's oldest resident, at 105 years old. He described her as an incredibly sweet and bright lady.
